Preparing children for the digital age

Ecole Jacques Prévert is a forward-thinking school. It began its digital transition several years ago, acquiring IT equipment for use by both pupils and teachers in learning. The school’s resulting digitalisation supports the development of pupils’ IT skills. It also helps with tiered learning and, when necessary, high-performance remote teaching.

Digital tools to support learning

Computers, tablets, interactive screens: digital tools are an integral part of our teachers’ pedagogical approach to capturing pupils’ interest and developing new ways of transferring knowledge. Touch screens, for example, are now used to help develop writing skills in nursery school. In primary school, pupils regularly use tablets and other tools to prepare presentations.

All our teachers have a laptop computer, and all classrooms feature interactive boards. We have a mobile class equipped with Mac Books for pupil use, around 100 tablets, and pedagogical robots. The Library and Document Centre (BCD) also has IT equipment. All of these resources enable educators, from nursery school to CM2, to integrate the use of interactive and multimedia tools into their teaching.

Collaborative learning solutions

All the school’s pupils have a secure email address ending with @ecoleprevert.org, which gives them access to the online education platform, Google Classroom. This tool enables them to contact the entire pedagogical team, in person or remotely. It is ideal for encouraging collaborative work among pupils. It also simplifies communication with teachers, develops children’s independence, and makes it easier for parents to follow what their children are learning.

Cyber security: a priority
Educating children about the digital world is an important part of our school project and our pupils’ journeys as citizens. Teaching both educators and pupils about staying safe online is a priority, and it promotes responsible behaviour when it comes to screens. From a very young age, the children are supported by their teachers as they learn the essential skills that form an integral part of the school landscape in the 21st century.
