Wellbeing Wednesday – How do we boost our wellbeing at Ecole Jacques Prévert?
11 Jan 2023
Any act of kindness is said to boost wellbeing as it not only generates warm feelings, but it also works as an anti-anxiety elixir. Children, parents and staff have certainly been extremely generous with Foodbank this year more than ever before: in December 2021, the whole school’s donation weighed 285 kilos which was already fantastic. In December 2022, however, the donation broke a new record and weighed in at an amazing 414.9 kilos! A huge thank you to the whole school community for such wonderful support and donations. Your generosity has helped make a huge difference to people’s lives. Thank you!
This week, the children in GS and CP had the opportunity to watch a live show “Muffin, Don’t get squished!” which promotes essential road safety information, equipping them with the fundamental skills to stay safe when travelling on and around the roads as pedestrians. The aim is to contribute to a long-term behaviour change that benefits individuals, communities, and the wider environment with regards to staying safe around roads.
The children from CE1 to CM2 have also improved their wellbeing this week, as they attended an inspiring workshop on developing emotional resilience. They have been given strategies to cope with challenges and setbacks, by learning from their own failures and not being consumed by them. This workshop also helped the children understand how to deal with conflict, adapt to change and how cope with disagreements and unwise decisions. During the workshop, the engaging facilitator used role-play as well as open forum discussions which allowed the children to develop their own skills, drawing on their personal experiences: the lessons learned are therefore more deeply embedded.
Our role is to continuously support the children in their educational journey to learn to undo bad habits and learn those life skills they need for their emotional resilience to grow.
With best wishes,
Mrs Weber
