Wellbeing Wednesday - First Aid Workshops

21 Jun 2023

All pupils in Ecole Jacques Prévert had the opportunity to take part in a First aid workshop, which gives them the confidence to do the right thing when it really counts.
Mini First Aid classes stand out from many first aid providers. The course content is covered appropriately for the age and ability of the child; taught in an interactive, memorable and fun way.

Mini First Aid Early Years (3-6yrs)

Mini First Aid Early Years classes was delivered to our MS, GS and CP pupils. They learned about what happens to their bodies if they are hurt and how they would be treated by a grown up. Each class lasted about 30 minutes and this is what the outcomes were:
•Children met Freddie Bear who not only knows how to ring 999 but also knows his address when his parents are feeling poorly.
•Children learned the importance of safe eating practice as Freddie Bear and his friends share the importance of Sit, Chop & Chew.

Mini First Aid Kids (7-11yrs)

For CE1 to CM2, since children are becoming more independent and can understand basic first aid, they learned to deal with bumps, burns, breaks and bleeding, carry out CPR and deal with choking.
The class was practical, interactive, provided lots of fun and involved various activities for the pupils to learn from. Each child proudly went home with a certificate upon completion of the course and a Mini First Aid sticker!

What did the pupils think?

"Je ne savais pas que quand quelqu'un tombe et ne se réveille pas il fallait le mettre sur le côté et lever son menton ! "
“The lady and the teddy bear were so much fun!"
"J'ai appris les réactions à avoir quand quelqu'un s'étouffe."
"Si j'ai un copain qui s'est fait mal, je sais comment réagir."
"Ce week-end, j'ai pu aider mon petit frère qui s'était coincé le pied et avait beaucoup saigné. J'ai mis des gants et je l'ai soigné."
"I found this really helpful and I know what to do now in case of an emergency."
"J'ai bien aimé que la dame nous parle de choses sérieuses."

Well done to our First Aiders!

Best wishes,

Mrs Weber
