CE1A Blind tasting experiment for the DNL Lesson
The CE1A pupils carried out a blind tasting experiment this week in keeping with the theme for, ‘Taste Week’.
Pupils worked in groups to identify the four tastes of :
SWEET BITTER SALTY ACIDIC
Pupils in each group took turns to be blind folded and they were fed an item of food via a spoon. Whilst pinching his/her nose, the blind folded pupil had to try to identify the taste of the food item, without using the sense of smell.
Interestingly, some pupils changed their opinion of the taste when they could actually smell the item of food.
The pupils tasted lemon, banana, dark chocolate, orange, oat biscuits and crackers. Pupils were engaged in the experiment and seemed to be motivated by the challenge of guessing the tastes.
It is all a question of taste!
