Wellbeing Wednesday: A Happy New Year at École Jacques Prévert de Londres
08 Jan 2025
Welcome back and Happy New Year to all our École Jacques Prévert community!
As we step into 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the successes of the past year and look ahead with renewed energy and purpose. At École Jacques Prévert, the start of a new year is not just a date in the calendar; it’s a moment to celebrate our achievements, set fresh goals, and focus on building a stronger, happier community for pupils, staff, and families.
Celebrating Successes in PSHE
This first week back, during PSHE lessons, we are dedicating time to reflect on what went well last year. Whether it was mastering a challenging topic, making new friends, or learning something exciting, we want our pupils to take pride in their achievements and carry those positive feelings into 2025.
We are also encouraging our pupils to adopt a growth mindset—the belief that abilities can be developed through effort, perseverance, and learning from mistakes. This approach helps pupils to face challenges with confidence and see setbacks as opportunities to grow. By setting personal goals for the new year and focusing on effort rather than perfection, pupils can build resilience and foster a love of learning.
New Year Resolutions for Wellbeing
For Pupils
- Be Kind to Others: A small act of kindness every day—helping a friend and/or a family member, offering an encouraging word, or simply smiling—can brighten someone’s day.
- Set Personal Goals: Whether it’s improving in a subject, joining a new club, or trying something creative, setting a goal makes learning exciting and rewarding.
- Focus on Growth: Embrace challenges, ask for help when needed, and remember that mistakes are part of the learning journey.
For Families
- Celebrate Achievements: Take time to acknowledge what went well in 2024, both big and small, and set family goals for the year ahead.
- Practise Gratitude: Share something you are thankful for at the dinner table or before bedtime—it is a simple way to promote positivity at home.
- Encourage a Growth Mindset: Praise effort and perseverance, rather than just results, to help your child develop confidence in their ability to improve.
For Staff
- Foster Positivity: Recognise the successes of our pupils and colleagues to create an uplifting and supportive environment.
- Promote a Growth Mindset: Encourage pupils to view mistakes as learning opportunities and model resilience in your own work.
- Prioritise Wellbeing: Take time to recharge and enjoy personal interests outside of work.
Looking Ahead to 2025
At École Jacques Prévert, we believe in the power of reflection, forward-thinking, and a growth mindset. By celebrating what went well in 2024 and setting intentions for the year ahead, we are fostering a culture of resilience, gratitude, and kindness. Together, let’s make 2025 a year of positivity, progress, and wellbeing for everyone in our school community.
Here’s to another exciting year of learning, collaboration, and success at École Jacques Prévert de Londres. Bonne année à tous!
Best wishes,
Mrs Weber
