Wellbeing Wednesday - Children's Mental Health Week
04 Feb 2026
This Is My Place
This week, as part of Children’s Mental Health Week (that takes place in the UK from 9th to 15th February), our school community is focusing on the theme “This Is My Place”, as suggested by Place2Be. This powerful theme encourages children to reflect on belonging, safety, and the importance of feeling accepted and valued, both in school and beyond.
At École Jacques Prévert, we believe that children thrive when they feel that they truly belong. A strong sense of belonging supports emotional wellbeing, builds confidence, and helps children develop healthy relationships with others.
Belonging
Throughout the week, all pupils will explore the concept of belonging during their PSHE lessons. Children will be encouraged to think about what belonging means to them, what helps them feel safe and included, and how they can help others feel the same.
These discussions will be supported by meaningful activities, allowing pupils to express their ideas creatively and reflect on their place within their class, their school, and their wider community. By listening to one another and sharing experiences, children learn that everyone’s voice matters.
Online Safety and Wellbeing
As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding and digital wellbeing, pupils in CE2, CM1 and CM2 will also attend targeted online safety presentations. In today’s digital world, helping children feel safe online is an essential part of supporting their mental health.
- CE2 pupils will take part in a session titled “How to Enjoy Your Time Online and Stay Safe on the Internet”, focusing on positive online experiences, healthy screen use, and knowing where to seek help if something doesn’t feel right.
- CM1 and CM2 will attend a session called “Fact or Fake?”, exploring misinformation and disinformation. Pupils will learn how to question what they see online, think critically about sources, and understand the impact that false or misleading information can have on individuals and communities.
These sessions aim to empower children with knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies so they can navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
Supporting Families
We recognise that supporting children’s wellbeing, particularly in the digital world, is most effective when school and families work together. Screens, online spaces and digital communication are now a significant part of children’s daily lives and can present both opportunities and challenges.
To support families with this, after half term we will be offering a parent session focused on online safety and healthy screen use. This session will explore how to support your child in being safe online and help families better understand the realities of growing up in a digital world. Parents will receive practical guidance and advice, as well as the opportunity to discuss questions and challenges related to screen use, online behaviour and supporting children’s mental health at home. Further details will be shared in the school Newsletter.
