Wellbeing Wednesday - Let the Celebrations Begin!

03 Jun 2026

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the May half term break and are feeling refreshed and ready for what promises to be a wonderful final stretch of the year.

With just five weeks left until the summer holidays, there's a beautiful buzz of anticipation building across our school community and with good reason! This last half term is always a special one, full of energy, excitement, and some of the most memorable moments of the entire school year. It is a time to reflect on just how much has been achieved, to celebrate the journey, and to enjoy every last moment together before we break for summer.

As the academic year draws to a close, Ecole Jacques Prévert is gearing up for one of its most cherished traditions: our end-of-year shows and productions. Organised by our dedicated teachers and performed by pupils from every year group, these events are about so much more than putting on a good show. They are a celebration of everything our pupils have become over the past year, a chance to look back with pride at the progress made and the challenges overcome. In a world where academic pressures can sometimes take centre stage, these moments remind us of the power of creativity, collaboration, and joy. Our beloved Journée des Arts and the June performances give every child a chance to shine, not just academically, but as a whole person. They serve as a wonderful reminder that education is about so much more than results; it is about nurturing curiosity, building character, and helping children discover who they are and what they are capable of.

For the children, taking part can be genuinely transformative. Stepping in front of an audience builds confidence, resilience, and real-life skills that no classroom lesson alone can teach, from public speaking and stage presence to teamwork and perseverance. The rehearsals, the nerves, the laughter shared backstage, and the final performance all play their part in helping them grow in ways they may not even realise at the time. There is something truly special about watching a child find their moment to shine, whether they are centre stage or quietly supporting those around them.
Beyond the spotlight, these productions also create something equally precious: a sense of belonging. Through music, drama, dance, and the visual arts, our pupils explore themes of identity and community, and in doing so, they build friendships and memories that will stay with them long after the curtain falls. For parents and teachers too, these events are a reminder of why we do what we do, and there is nothing quite like seeing the pride on a child's face when they take their bow.

This half term, we will also be taking time to celebrate our pupils' commitment to our school SABRE superpowers. Those who have completed their reward chart from CP to CM2 will be recognised and truly valued for the effort and dedication they have shown throughout the year. We firmly believe that character is just as important as academic achievement, and we want every child to feel seen and celebrated for the qualities they bring to our community each and every day. In our Early Years, this celebration takes on a particularly magical feel. Children who have shown outstanding commitment to our superpowers will have the special honour of wearing our superpower rainbow cape and carrying the colourful sabre for the day, giving the whole school community the opportunity to congratulate them and share in their well-deserved moment of pride. It is a joyful and very visible way of recognising the wonderful values our pupils are embodying.

As we head into these final, joyful weeks, let's savour the energy and excitement around us, take a moment to appreciate just how far our children have come, and make the most of every precious day we have left together this year. Here's to five more wonderful weeks together.

Warm wishes,
Mrs Weber
